  • All construction is of marine-grade mahogany

  • Bottom hull is 1” – two 1/2” sheets laminated and screwed

  • Side decks are 1/2”

  • All are covered with 10 oz. fiberglass cloth and several coats of epoxy

  • Frames are 2 layers of 3/4” x 4” mahogany on 24” centres

  • Four bulkheads – fore cabin, mid-cabin, companionway, and lazarette – 2 layers of 1/2” mahogany plywood

  • Slight V-bottom added to bow section

  • Interior bulkheads are trimmed with grooved pine

  • Side shelves from bow to companionway

  • Interior is painted with 2 coats of top-quality white paint

  • Interior trim is stained mahogany strips

  • Bottom of hull received two coats of VC Tar prior to VC17

  • Hull sides are painted with Awlgrip Blue

  • White bootstripe

  • Stern is stained and varnished like trim

  • Bottom painted with VC17 antifouling – red

  • Topsides are finished with white epoxy paint

  • Steering – rack & pinion or rotary – Teleflex – post compatible with wheel – cable led to port side of hinge tube

  • Steering wheel – Edson 602BR – 22” (521 US) or 24”; bushing is available to mate with 3/4” tapered Teleflex post 1/2”/20 thread – cost: $750

  • Cap to screw onto post when mounting

  • Note: There is a U-bolt mounted securely behind and underneath the steering post and another U-bolt mounted on the port side of the V-berth. This is for using a lock to secure the wheel when you are away from the boat, when cruising and exploring the port, or in the cabin when the boat is at its home berth. It is just too easy for an opportunistic thief to steal. – John

  • Longitudinal mahogany strapping along interior walls – to allow ventilation

  • U-bolt behind steering wheel and in forward cabin port coaming for locking wheel for safety

  • Cabin has a counter with a butane hotplate and storage

  • Tray can be moved outside for picnic table use

  • Underneath this counter is an accessible porta-potty

  • Lower locker on port side in cabin contains a pullout drawer with a cutlery drawer which can also be moved outside

  • AC fan in cabin

  • Required safety equipment including flare gun with in-date flares, 2 fire extinguishers

  • 6 mahogany plywood boards approx. 9” x 24” for use as inserts between seats in cabin or cockpit to serve as prep tables at galley and cockpit tables – one has a large hole meant for the cockpit to accommodate the tank for the portable barbecue

Power

  • Two small trickle chargers for batteries for winter storage (attached in lockers for dock charging)

  • 15-amp outlet on cockpit lazarette area – powers extension cord to supply electricity at dock and is also connected to AC outlet in cabin – both chargers plugged into this outlet

  • 4-position battery switch in lazarette: Off, 1, 2, Both

For the past 20 years, the vessel has been stored inside for half of the time and outside (commercially shrink-wrapped) for the remainder.
